Sweet Gracie the day after chemo 2
Gracie woke up perky as ever....ready to play with Charlie and eat! Overnight, about 3:30am, she wanted out and was a little sick with diarrhea, but when she woke me up about 6:45 this morning she seemed fine. I called the GVS as a precaution late last night b/c I also noticed she had some leaking, but they said that could be normal based on what she goes through during her chemo day and this morning it seems like Gracie is fine and the problem stopped. Gracie was happy to eat, gobbling up her food quickly. We were only part way through integrating all her new nutrition stuff before she had to do her second chemo so today I didn't add in all the nutritional supplements, I figured I would give her body just a day of food and then continue adding them back in starting tomorrow. Hopefully her system handles it well and she'll have no digestive side effects. Dr. Hamilton said she lost a little bit of weight so we are going to keep a close eye on that and make sure that she is getting a little extra....not enough to make her fat (which is so easy in schnauzers....I swear over the years I've thought Gracie could just eat until she pops sometimes) just enough to make sure she has all the energy and nutrients she needs to fight this nasty disease. Charlie is staying so close to his Gracie today. He keeps checking on her. When she wakes up they play a little and when she sleeps he comes and looks in on her. I'm so glad they have each other, I think it really helps Gracie too! Oh yeah, because her WBC was so low last time we have to get it checked next Thursday...it's already marked in the calendar.
