Gracie sticking her tongue out at Monday!
Gracie sticking her tongue out....tell me why I don't like Mondays! It's Monday after the holiday weekend. (Hopefully everyone enjoyed theirs....) This past weekend was Gracie's window to have the worst of her chemo side effects as far as low WBC count goes so she stayed at home with Charlie, just the dynamic duo. If you're in Atlanta you know about the Peachtree Road Race, it's huge....55k or so people run it. I helped a friend out for the race so that meant an early morning breakfast, about 5:30am, but neither Gracie nor Charlie minded. It was about lunch by the time I got back to Gracie, she wasn't feeling so good. Her nose was very warm and dry, she had a bit of a temperature and she was fairly lethargic. I called and we decided to hold off taking her in at the moment, but would bring her in if her temperature got much higher. I had a few different things planned throughout the day, but all were planned so I would be able to check up on Gracie since they say that things like temperature can spike rather quickly. Also made a run to the farmers market to get more ingredients for her custom made food. (It's the only place I've found so far with Millet, one of the main ingredients). Charlie was sweet staying so close to Gracie, he really seems to know when she's not feeling her best and it's funny because sometimes she'll scoot to be closer to him too. Saturday night, Gracie ate all her food, but wasn't quite her normal perky self. She went and laid back down again right after. Charlie laying right near her. Sunday Gracie seemed more excited about eating breakfast than she had about eating supper the night before. She quickly gobbled it up then went and picked a spot on the couch to stretch out and nap, Charlie followed and sat right by her. The two were funny. We put Wimbledon on, we were all cheering for Roger Federer, and watched with a friend. It was raining so neither Gracie nor Charlie wanted much to do with the outdoors, but over the course of the day some of Gracie's spirit seemed to be returning. Today she was hungry and lively again. Sure she takes plenty of naps, but when she's awake she's happy and comfortable and ready to talk. I thought about taking her for a walk, but I think we'll leave that for tomorrow and give her one more day to kind of recharge.
